Balmy 30's

The sun's out and the temperature is above freezing. It feels like spring today. I made spaghetti last night. The dogs haven't been walked in 3 days but they seem to be coping well. It's been too cold. One week to the Super Bowl.

Territory

Bubba has a warm spot to sleep in the winter. It's in the bathroom, the warmest room in the house right by a vent. Winston found out it's a pretty warm place to lay down. Thank goodness Bubba never saw him. Bubba will bite the dogs on their ear just to intimidate. Toonces just bops them on the head with his paw for intimidation. Deion Sanders has a new reality show. The show, with the working title Deion and Pilar Sanders: Prime Time Love will air on Oxygen beginning February 2008 featuring Deion, Pilar, and their five children. Set in Prosper, Texas, one of the show's main hooks will be Pilar's discontent in the tiny town and the friction between her own ambitions and her husband's content. Superbowl Sunday is coming and Eli is unstoppable....

Alert and Fluffy

The dogs are so alert when food is involved. This week's dessert was Italian cream cake.

The Columbus Zoo paid $35,000 to keep Fluffy the reticulated python on permanent display. While on loan last year, the python helped draw 1.53 million visitors, just under the zoo's attendance record of 1.56 million set in 2006. If you like snakes, you must visit this zoo.

Tigers, Steelers, and Pugs

Congratulations to the LSU Tigers! The Steelers season ended Saturday night in a very tense game. I am relieved their season is over in many ways. May someone please beat the Patriots. If you enjoy the dog licking that has gone around in many emails, here's an exclusive pug one. It takes awhile to load. Since the temperature was 64 yesterday. Here's a look back at some snow that fell 1/2/08.

Traditions

We always have black-eyed peas and cabbage on New Year's day. We eat the peas over rice and the cabbage was cooked in olive oil and basil. Some snow fell today and it's really cold; a warm-up is on the way. The bowl games have been great today, very competitive. Many, many years ago we went to the Cotton Bowl. Hope you caught a glimpse of the outdoor hockey game today. It was snowing and the Zamboni machines were working overtime smoothing the ice surface. I put away the Christmas lights today. This weekend the dishes will get put away. My holiday/vacation week and a half is over. It's back to work tomorrow. It will go fast since it's a short week.
