Brotherly Love

Winston gave Monty a kiss. Monty evidently did not mind. Winston is not a licker, but he will lick Monty from time to time.

I have several cucumbers growing, the squash are still small, and the tomatoes have just started to bloom.

This lemonade was great if you like it tart and sweet. I finally found it cheap enough to try with a coupon.

5K Run

My husband ran in a 5K this morning in Centerville. The first 800 participants got a free running shirt.

We are awaiting the rain to stop so we can grill some burgers. The boys have slept most of the day.

Cityfolk Dayton

Tonight we went to Dayton's Cityfolk festival to hear a little salsa and some cajun music. The cajun band was Geno Delafose and French Rockin' Boogie. Cajun music is happy music. It makes you want to dance! The festival will conclude Saturday night.


Today I cooked some pork shoulder ribs. The boys got the bones and we put sauce in the meat for sandwiches with pickles and onions. We also had homemade fries. It rained on and off during the day.

Yes, I need to do a lot of weeding. The grass has moved in .

Squash

The squash are looking good.



The cucumbers are blooming.


LSU lost to North Carolina twice, and now Georgia and Fresno State are in the finals; bulldogs vs. bulldogs.

The boys had a long walk today. There should be plenty of snoring tonight.

Ice Cream

M&Ms has a new ice cream treat. It's basically an ice cream bar with a thicker chocolate shell.

LSU begins playing in the College World Series on Sunday vs. North Carolina.

The Long, Long Pug

Monty looks so long in this picture.


Winston's nails are not in great condition. His outer ones on his front paws are black and they grow in such a curvy way that it is very hard to trim them without hurting him. His inner nails are very soft and split. He even has a callus that bleeds sometimes after a walk. But, he loves to walk.

LSU starts the super regionals today against UC-Irvine. They wore the same gold uniforms until halted by the NCAA. Their winning streak stands at 23 games and they found a way to wear some gold.

Maying Out

It's the end of May and it went fast. We had chicken Monterrey, potato salad, broccoli and raisin salad, and beans for supper. Bush finally makes beans that are seasoned to eat right out of the can. My favorites are the Southern Pit Barbecue and the Smokehouse.

Toonces was chilling out on the blankets after supper. He had the couch to himself and was quite comfy. The first wave of strawberries are over. Wave two will be smaller as the plants have put out many runners and I have left them be. I lost a lot of plants last summer but the new ones made up for it this year.

Holiday Fun

I tried a new onion ring recipe from Pioneer Woman. It turned out great. I didn't have buttermilk, so I soaked the onions in milk and some vinegar.

I made potato salad using some red sweet pepper relish and zesty bread and butter pickles. We also grilled hamburgers.



The strawberries are peaking. We had waffles with strawberries for breakfast.

Yard Dogs and Red Things

Monty loves to lay in the sun. They all took a nap in the yard this week. The strawberries are beginning to ripen. It will be a good year if we can get two straight days of sunshine. Memorial Day Weekend finally, time to plant, grill, and chill.

And Then There Were Four

Bubba passed away over a month ago. He lived over 15-1/2 years. He was not eating very much. He had an accident at home that left him unable to walk around. The vet could never determine what was causing his illness. Toonces peers into the closet every once in a while to see if he is there.

So the question is does Toonces think the dogs are cats or do the dogs think Toonces is a dog? Toonces is now 17 years and 3 months old.

I watched Bones Monday night and was shocked at the ending. Next week is the finale and the Gormagon mystery will finally be solved. Go Pistons!
