Carrots

We harvested all the carrots today.Since all the early spring vegetables have been harvested (onions, peas, potatoes, and carrots), we planted okra and purple hull pea seeds in the empty rows.

My mom made some coconut pies today.

Rest

It's a weekend of rest for us. Last Saturday we flew to Dayton and loaded our stored belongings and the furniture in the house into a huge rental truck. We said goodbye to Miamisburg and our house, choking back the tears. We made it back to LA Tuesday night and unloaded the truck into another storage place. AARRGGHHHH....moving is not fun.
This is the Chef Menteur Blvd. bridge over the Industrial Canal in New Orleans. We flew out of New Orleans (cheap tickets) so we had to stop on the way back and pick up our vehicle.

Cucmbers, carrots, green beans, and onions out of the garden. I dug up a few carrots to see if they were ready. They're still a little too skinny and tasted bitter. I'll leave the rest in the ground for another week or so.

This toad was hanging out in the garden this morning, bufo nebulifer I believe (gulf coast toad). Bufo means toad in latin. I had my gloves on because toads always pee on you when you pick them up, thinking you'll drop them.

Current Blue Bell Selection

The Blue Bell flavors in our freezer right now are Peaches and Homemade Vanilla and a new flavor called Groom's Cake.

This is my anniversary present. It won't be ready until the first week of June. The DVDs contain the playoff games and the Super Bowl with the local Pittsburgh radio announcers.

Dark Side

I have officially gone over to the Dark Side. I now drink Community Coffee's Dark Roast. I used to be a Between or Medium Roast drinker. I had always thought that the dark roast would be too strong or bitter. The dark roast has a much richer taste without being too strong. 

Anniversary

Today we celebrated 23 years of wedded bliss. We ate lunch at Pappadeaux's.



The LCM Jazz band played for a March of Dimes walk this morning.

Methane Jane Elizabeth docked at the LNG plant this past Tuesday.

Contraband Days

Contraband Days is in its 52nd year of existence in Lake Charles. Saturday morning there were plenty of boats docked behind the civic center flying pirate flags.

Another tanker pulled in this past week. This ship is from Bermuda. The name is plainly written on the side of the ship and there are arrows towards the bottom of the ship to show the tug boats where to push. There is a website for ship spotting.

Get Ziggy

The Steelers first round draft pick was "Ziggy" Hood from Missouri, a defensive lineman.

Tyson Jackson became LSU's highest drafted defensive player going to the Kansas City Chiefs as pick number 3.

Another Ship

Another ship came in this week. This one was from Malaysia.

Tanker

I work near a industrial canal. Today, a large tanker came down the canal to deliver liquified natural gas. Notice all the tugboats that helped put the ship in place at the dock.
