Coconut Pie

My hubby made a coconut pie today. This is his second pie. The first one was chocolate. We have not cut into this one yet. Only 7 days left until LSU plays OSU. GEAUX TIGERS!

Waffles

I got a waffle maker for Christmas. It works great! We have tried it twice. Only once did I overload it with batter and have a tremendous overflow. I baked strawberry cakes for my neighbors this year. It is always fun to give! I had a mall gift certificate to spend after Christmas. I spent it all: shirts, sweater, pj's, Bath and Bodyworks, Christmas dishes, socks. We did not have a white Christmas. Toonces is two months away from being 17.

Snow and Ice

The snow started Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and fell until about 2:00 p.m. Then we had freezing rain for the rest of the day.
I made vegetable soup for the weekend. My husband made a chocolate pie this week. Only one piece is left.
As of this morning, the ground is a crunchy layer of ice and some snow. We will have snow showers through the afternoon but probably little accumulation due to the wind.

December Pug Meet-up

We had our December pug meet-up at Club K-9 Doggy Daycare.
It was a very nice daycare facility. There were lots of new members and plenty of pugs running around.

Flakes

Our first few flakes fell on November 23. Our first accumulation fell on December 5.

Last weekend we had chili. This weekend it's potato soup. Due to the snow, the boys haven't had a walk in 3 days. They have some stored up energy today for the pug meet-up. Winston is 10 years old and he's becoming sensitive to the cold. He gets chills easily now. We have a sweater for him, but he doesn't like to wear it.

It turned cold today. There were snowflakes falling but nothing to get excited about.

Two Trees

Only two of our trees had beautiful leaves this year. The rest either lost their leaves early or went straight to brown.

Vacation 3,000 Miles

We took vacation to visit family. 2,000 miles to LA and 1,000 miles to VA. The dogs went to LA. We had seafood and Blue Bell in LA. We had cow in VA.

Being an aunt and uncle, we took some pictures.
The fall foliage was beautiful in WV.

Drought

There are some upsides to a drought.

  • No fleas
  • No growing grass to mow
  • No fleas
  • Less leaves to rake; 1/3 fell early
  • No fleas
  • No muddy kitchen to mop
  • No fleas

Trips

Sunday we went to the Columbus Zoo to see Fluffy. Fluffy was not moving around but he looked in very good condition for a 300 lb. reticulated python. The Columbus Zoo has a wonderful reptile collection.
Last weekend we went to Memphis TN. We ate at Corky's barbecue and both of us had ribs. I had them dry and Steve had them wet. The wet ones were moister of course and sweeter due to the sauce. The dry ones are great if you are just starving for meat. While in town, we stocked up on our favorite ice cream from the South. We made it home with very little melting.

Don't tell anyone but we haven't seen a flea yet this year. It must be due to the drought. Monty has allergies to many things and all it takes is one flea for him to itch like crazy. The ragweed count is triple the normal level due to the drought. This has made him spin on his butt a lot lately.

The dogs are getting multiple walks almost every other day. Cornelius has lost a lot of weight but the spare tire around his middle section is not shrinking.

Leaves are Early

It's so dry that the leaves are falling off the trees two months early. We had yellow cake with chocolate icing for dessert tonight.

Another tomato, more purple hull peas, and the beginning of round two of the green beans.
