Blooms

There are lots of strawberry blooms. That's the good news. The few early blooms didn't make it through the last cold spell. I may plant the garden sometime in the next week. The dogs have had a short walk three days in a row.

The Trophy

One of the cats left a trophy in the back room. He must have been wandering around in the back yard. Poor little mouse! I'm sure the cat must have enjoyed the hunt.

There have been no more strawberry blooms yet due to the recent chill. Only time will tell if the cold spell kaboshed the strawberries this year.

Winston had diarrhea this week. He must have ate something weird or else he got a virus. The other dogs did not get sick.

Saturday Breakfast

We had pancakes and sausage for breakfast on Saturday. Of course, the boys got to sample the fare and enjoyed every lick. Toonces, who loves pizza and ice cream, snubbed his nose at the sausage. I got some new bubble bath at Bath and Body Works. They have lots of new scents.

Two Strawberries

There are now two blooms on the strawberry plants.

Waiting for Strawberry Blooms

The strawberry plants are starting to really spread out. Hopefully, the white blooms will be here in a couple of weeks. It always amazes me to see these plants survive the winters and grow like crazy in the spring. The dogs are getting walks almost every day. Winston is very happy about the walks. Cornelius still has a band of blubber to lose. Winston and Monty are in great shape.

Bath Feathers

Today was bath day. It was nice and warm. The dogs' coats always look like feathers when they're wet. They had a walk/run to the park and then a little later a bath. Monty likes to bathe. The other two endure it. The grass is looking good in the back yard. The dirt in the garden is fully turned over. As usual, the strawberry plants have taken over more territory. They now occupy 1/3 of the garden. I had Graeter's cotton candy ice cream last night. It is now on the regular flavor list.

The Squirrel

The squirrel is a stuffed toy that gets around. The dogs like to chew on him when they are extremely happy. Sometimes Winston uses the squirrel for a pillow.

Dirt

I started turning the dirt over in the garden this evening. Tomorrow it will rain. There were lots of earthworms, which is always a good sign. Hopefully I'll plant by the first of May. The dogs are getting lots of yard time and seem happier now that it's warmer. They've had two walks in the last week. Cornelius has to lose weight. He has a spare tire around his belly.

Bubba

This is Bubba. Bubba thinks the dogs stink! He refuses to hang out with them. Toonces hangs out with the dogs and sleeps with them. Bubba is a loner. Bubba is 15 years old and Toonces is 16. Toonces has gained weight in his old age and Bubba has lost.

I went to Jungle Jim's today. The variety of even the normal things is huge, so it is always fun to go. I got some Oolong tea and some porcini sauce plus a few other things on sale.

I always make my own spaghetti sauce but this porcini sauce is seasoned so well I can use it straight out of the can on any pasta. I usually combine it with sausage and pasta.

For the second time in my life I had a sausage mcmuffin with cheese from McDonald's for breakfast. I never liked the English muffins by themselves but someone gave me one at work two weeks ago and I liked it. I also don't like American cheese; I'm a cheddar fan. But I don't taste the cheese, just the sausage and the muffin.

And finally the good news of the day: Dairy Queen is open. Per the garden radio show today, this may be our last weekend of real winter weather. Ah spring!

Warm Days Ahead

The snow is slowly melting away. We got some slushy ice last night. The temperature is rather warm today. Now the muddy pawprints are constantly decorating the kitchen floor. Looks like spring may be right around the corner. Cornelius has gained some weight in the past month. It's time to start the walks to the park.

Winston is ready!

More SNOW

We're going to get 3 more inches today. That will put us over the foot mark for total accumulation of the snows. This is a nice snow today. The roads are clear and the snow has been lightly falling all day. Best news of all is the temperature is in the 20's so it feels balmly outside. No coat needed today.

The Snow Has Ended

We ended up with 11-12 inches of the white powder. Now it's so cold, we can't go out and enjoy it. At least we'll keep the snow for awhile. Winston loves ice, so of course, he likes to eat snow.

Yellow Snow Alert

We have 6 inches of the powder so far. It's still coming down.

Artic Air

Corny and Monty decided to share a chair this morning. Toonces was a little grumpy last night because he wasn't getting the love he felt he deserved. I was busy. Grumpy Toonces! It's very cold. We might get more snow tonight. It's Superbowl week and I'm rooting for the Colts.

Snow Finally

We got our first significant snowfall today. Looks like we'll be topping off at 2". It seems to have stopped for the moment.

Bath Day for Meet-up

Saturday was our local pug meet-up. That meant bath time. It's been raining for days and the boys' paws were quite muddy.

We had fun at the meet-up as usual. There were lots of other breeds there for different reasons.

El Nino No Snow

Looks like El Nino will give us a warm, wet winter with no snow. Some years you get snow; others you don't. My kitchen sink is plugged up. I can still get the dishwasher to work, so I'm rinsing dishes in the bathroom sink. Every time the dishwasher rinses, I have to scoop the water out of the sink so that the water does not overflow out of the dishwasher. At least the dishwasher works.

Looks like Cowher Power is going to unplug tomorrow.

Christmas came

It's warm and there is no snow on the ground. The presents have been unwrapped and the gumbo pot is almost empty. Toonces the cat hangs out with the dogs. Our other cat, Bubba, thinks the dogs stink!

Christmas Baking

I tried to make buttercream frosting yesterday. It was a flop. I bake for my neighbors at Christmas; usually cakes. This year they get brownies. I had high hopes of icing and putting sprinkles on them. It didn't work out. They aren't pretty but they taste good! Winston wanted to be in my lap all day. He was whiny today!

Sunday, Sunday

Church is over and the fried chicken has been consumed. It's a beautiful sunny day. The dogs are sunning. Winston will not sit still for pictures. You have to hold him to take one. Monty has no problem whatsoever. He is stoic.

Pug Meet-up Day

Today was our December pug meet-up. We held it at a doggie daycare. It was wonderful to find an inside place to meet.
